Our golden flaxseed is grown in healthy, living soil on our regenerative farm, where every crop is part of a bigger mission — to regenerate our soils, safeguard the future and purity of our foods, enrich our community, and celebrate the art of baking with whole grains.
Golden flaxseed has a mild, slightly nutty flavor and a beautiful warm hue. Unlike brown flaxseed, which has a stronger, earthier taste, golden flax blends seamlessly into both sweet and savory recipes. Flaxseeds are unique in that their nutrition is best accessed when ground, as the whole seed’s outer shell is very hard to digest. Many of our customers mill or grind their flax fresh at home in small batches to preserve its delicate oils.
Best Uses:
- Ground and added to breads, muffins, and cookies for extra nutrition and moisture
- Stirred into smoothies, oatmeal, or yogurt for a nutty, nutrient boost
- Used as a natural egg replacer in vegan baking (1 Tbsp ground flax + 3 Tbsp water = 1 egg)
- Sprinkled whole on salads, granola, or porridge for texture and visual appeal
Nutritional Profile (per 100g, whole): ~534 calories, 18g protein, 27g fiber, and exceptionally rich in omega-3 fatty acids (especially alpha-linolenic acid). Also high in lignans (plant compounds with antioxidant properties), magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, and thiamin.
